Israeli Calendar

The Israeli calendar is an opportunity to re-examine basic concepts connected to, and celebrate values and questions that underlie our shared life here. Alma introduced to mainstream Israeli culture Tikkun Leil Shavuot (Shavuot festival study night) as a rich night of study and culture that is open to all. The model has since spread across the entire country. Similarly, Alma renewed Slichot (evenings of penitence around the New Year and Day of Atonement), and other festival and memorial days that required updating to be made relevant for contemporary Israeli society.
